Almasi Toolkit

Almasi Toolkit

Since the start of 2024, Youth Changers Kenya, with support from Green String Network, has been developing the Almasi toolkit. This toolkit employs trauma-informed approaches, offering a clear training framework, contextual practical resources, and participatory methods to enhance learning and provide psychosocial support.

Almasi Phase 1, implemented in 2021, supported 33 survivors of sexual violence in Kiambu and Kakamega counties. The project notably enhanced girls’ agency, as demonstrated by a +10.44 increase in agency outcomes from the Amplify Girls longitudinal study report. Key impacts included 23 young women opening businesses through cash transfers, and the project earned recognition, getting YCK as the 3rd finalist in the Investing in Young Women category at the Gender Mainstreaming Awards Africa.

The success and learnings from Phase 1 have directly shaped the development of the toolkit, making it more robust. These insights are now driving the 2nd phase of the project and are integral to the toolkit’s design, enhancing our ability to provide tailored support and effective interventions.

We are excited to announce that Almasi Phase 2, launched in March, is now guided by this toolkit. This 2-year project focuses on supporting 26 survivors of sexual violence with psychosocial support, skills building, and economic empowerment. We are grateful to Feminist Opportunities Now for their support in advancing our mission toward a healthy and violence-free society.

Stay tuned for updates on the project’s impact on individuals and communities.
